Situated at the confluence of the Columbia, Cowlitz and Coweeman
Rivers, the City of Longview is a center for many recreation and
tourism opportunities. Longview is a great place to extend your
golf outing to include discovering Mt.
St. Helens and the aftermath of the volcanic eruption.
Helicopter or small airplane tours will provide aerial panoramas
of the mountain, interpretive and forest learning centers open this
mountain's wonders to all ages, and hiking and biking the miles
of spectacular trails provide visitors with a sense of closeness
to the natural beauty of the area.
Fishing and boating adventures abound. Rivers, mountain and lowland
lakes and countless waterfalls make the Longview area a water wonderland.
The city is situated in the heart of premiere fishing grounds with
salmon and steelhead runs that attract visitors from all over the
northwest. A more leisurely trip along the rivers can be enjoyed
by paddlers. The Lower Columbia River Water Trail runs along the
Longview shores and extends all the way to the Pacific coast. Longview's
crown jewel, Lake Sacajawea Park is located in the center of the
city with its 3.5 miles of trails around the lake's beautifully
landscaped shores. Visitors can also enjoy the arboretum, Japanese
island, and the solar walk on the park grounds.
This is also a great area to hold conferences and special events
around a golf outing. The
Cowlitz Regional Conference and Special Events Center will host
your events in their newly completed center. The facility boasts
an exhibition hall along with banquet and meeting areas. The staff
will be glad to provide you with a complementary meeting planner's
packet.
Perhaps more casual plans are in order following the golf game.
Enjoy the performing arts at the Columbia
Theatre in downtown Longview. This unique, ornate Italian Renaissance
performance hall offers shows ranging from Broadway to boogie and
symphony to salsa.
